OBJECTIVES OF THE NURSING UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION PROGRAM

• To have the necessary theoretical and up-to-date knowledge, skills and attitudes and to be able to follow changes and developments by adopting lifelong learning in order to fulfill the roles and functions of the nursing profession.

• To meet the primary, secondary and tertiary level healthcare needs of the individual, family and society by using information and care technologies in line with the nursing process with an evidence-based and holistic approach.

• To take a role in nursing education, management and research by fulfilling duties, authorities and responsibilities taking account of professional values and ethical principles.

• To fulfill roles and functions in cooperation with interdisciplinary team by using interpersonal communication and leadership skills. 

CAREER GOALS OF GRADUATES

• 80% of our graduates start working as nurses in public and private health institutions within two years after graduation,

• 15% of our graduates continue their postgraduate education programs within 3-4 years,

• 5% of our graduates work as academic staff within 5 years after graduation,

• 10% of our graduates take administrative duties as managers within 8-10 years after graduation in the institution where they work.

EXPECTED TARGETS ACCORDING TO THE ACADEMIC YEARS

CLASS 1 YEAR-END LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• To be able to relate the concepts of human, health, environment and nursing,

• To be able to define nursing and to establish its relationship with concepts/theories,

• To be able to explain the structure and functioning of systems,

• To explain the learning and teaching process,

• To check the pulse and to measure blood pressure in healthy individuals,

• To be able to explain the characteristics of prenatal, natal and postnatal periods,

• To be able to evaluate child health according to age groups,

• To be able to explain child rights, child neglect and abuse,

• To be able to define the concept of ethics with its principles.

CLASS 2 YEAR-END LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• To be able to discuss the laws, patient rights and ethical issues concerning nursing,

• To evaluate the health of the normal newborn,

• To be able to explain the psychosocial development characteristics of young and middle-aged adulthood,

• To be able to explain the pharmacokinetic factors, mechanisms of action, side effects and drug interactions of drugs,

• To be able to carry out the patient admission, care, treatment and discharge process in line with the general interview principles and the nursing process,

• To be able to explain the concepts of occupational health, job satisfaction and burnout,

• To be able to count the principles of patient and employee safety,

• To be able to plan the care of the elderly person by taking their characteristics into account,

• To be able to explain the use of informatics and its applications in nursing,

• To be able to associate the concepts of quality of life and self-care with diseases,

• To be able to perform system-specific nursing practices,

• To be able to provide care for individuals and families with health problems related to the hematopoietic, respiratory, cardiovascular and endocrine systems,

• To be able to provide special care to risky situations during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

CLASS 3 YEAR-END LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• To be able to provide care for individuals and families with urogenital, gastrointestinal and nervous system health problems,

• To be able to discuss case-specific ethical issues encountered in clinical and field practices,

• To be able to provide care for individuals and families with mental health problems,

• To be able to provide care for individuals and families with complex health problems,

• To be able to provide care for mentally and physically disabled children and families,

GRADE 4 YEAR-END LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• To be a part of a multidisciplinary team,

• To participate in practices for protecting and improving health and to be able to provide training,

• To be able to provide care for individuals and families with health problems, taking account of their cultural characteristics,

• To be able to communicate effectively with the individual, family and society,

• To use lifelong learning, problem solving, critical thinking and leadership skills,

• To be able to participate in scientific research and projects by following the current literature.
